The War for Kindness (chapters 4-5)

August 19, 2020 by Brian Cope Leave a Comment

Respond to one of the following prompts:

  1. In chapter 4, Jamil Zaki discusses the concept of untethering and the way that art can foster untethering. He focuses specifically on theater, television, and reading. Describe a transformative experience that you have had as a result of reading a good book, watching a performance, or binge watching a series. Was it an untethering experience as Zaki describes?
  2. In chapter 5, goes in the opposite direction and discusses the danger of empathy and untethering. How does this chapter contrast with chapter 4? What aspects of chapter 5, if any, resonate strongly with you? Why?
